'By Jack Tarrant TOKYO (Reuters) – Sea Forest Waterway, which will play host to rowing events at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, opened on Sunday with the sport’s world governing body praising organisers for delivering a “world class” venue on schedule. Sprint canoeing as well as para-rowing and para-canoeing will also feature at the newly-built venue next year. International Rowing Federation president Jean-Christophe Rolland, himself an Olympic gold medallist from Sydney 2000, was glad the venue was completed on time. “Everything has been on track, on time and I am very pleased more than one year before the Olympic Games to be in such a position without any major issues,” Rolland told reporters. “There are still some little things to improve but I can say we can be relieved we will have a good course for the Olympic Games.” The course, which is 2,300 metres long, has been constructed on canals in Tokyo Bay and is next to a former landfill site, which has been turned into a forest in time for the Games. There are approximately 2,000 seats in a permanent grandstand, while upto 16,000 spectators can be accommodated daily during the Olympics with help of temporary seating and standing areas. On a sunny but blustery day, the conversation revolved around the possibility of wind affecting race conditions on a course with very little natural protection from the elements. Several dozen rowers and canoeists managed to successfully complete a demonstration on Sunday despite the conditions and Rolland said he was unfazed. “Of course the wind, if it is too strong, might be an issue but this is the fourth time I have come here to Tokyo and this is the first time I have seen it so strong,” said the Frenchman. “On an eight day programme I hope we will find time easily where the wind is not too strong and that we can have a good competition.” The Sea Forest Waterway is one of just eight permanent new venues being built for Tokyo 2020. Construction for all the venues is on schedule, with the archery venue already being completed and unveiled in April. (Reporting by Jack Tarrant; editing by Sudipto Ganguly)'

'Ian Moore Architects has converted an old industrial building in Sydney to create Redfern Warehouse, combining a four bedroom house , an equine genetics laboratory and a garage for classic cars. The brick exterior of the two-storey converted warehouse , located in the suburb of Redfern, remains largely untouched. But its interior has been expanded and reconfigured.Locally based Ian Moore Architects stripped back the old warehouse structure, which had previously converted in the 1990s into an architect's office and art gallery. The team then extended it with the addition of simple, contemporary elements designed to remain true to the building's industrial past. \'There was a strong emphasis on maintaining an industrial feel to the conversion,\' explained the architecture studio. \'The owners asked that there be no timber, marble or black finishes used in the new interiors.\' The large timber roof trusses of Redfern Warehouses's original structure are left exposed and painted white, and the new additions are structured around them. The programme is split horizontally across the warehouse's two levels, with the upper section housing the living spaces and the ground floor containing the garage, laboratory and ancillary spaces. \'The new work is complementary, but clearly distinguished from the original fabric through a rigorous application of the concept of retention, recycling and reinforcing the original form,\' said the studio. \'A series of refined and elegant new elements contrast with and complement the original, with no sentimental or nostalgic reinvention of a warehouse aesthetic.\' Areas of retained brick wall are now framed by new, metal elements that mirror the trusses of the original warehouse, creating bright, open living spaces that look down into a small courtyard below. The dividing walls in these living spaces all stop at the base of the trusses, turning the roof into a vast open space ensuring light penetrates the entire roof area and air circulates effectively. \'The upper level is divided on strict alignment with the existing trusses, with the bottom chord of the truss used as a horizontal datum,\' continued the studio. \'All solid walls stop at this level, with clear glazing installed above.\' To the north, at the upper level of Redfern Warehouse, a section of roof has been removed to create a planted outdoor terrace area that extends the living space, between this contemporary gable end and the brick wall of the adjacent structure.Moveable glass louvres surrounding the internal courtyard provide natural ventilation as well as sun-shading, and serve to further the industrial feel of the new spaces. On the original brick facade, these glass louvres along with translucent windows provide privacy for the laboratory space, and give a hint at the modern conversion that has occurred inside.Warehouse conversions are a popular means of creating new office or living spaces. In Brussels, ZAmpone recently transformed a 111-year-old industrial building into a new office for creative agency BBDO, and a vast shipbuilding warehouse with its original machinery in San Francisco has been turned into a a startup's headquarters . 'I can still remember the moment that I discovered Troye Sivan's YouTube channel: it was 2013 and it was raining. In that moment, as a closeted and scared teenager, I sat across from my lit computer screen in awe. Upon finding his coming out videos, his music made me feel this new and inexplicable feeling of validation. From that point on, I found myself gravitating towards more LGBTQIA+ artists while I explored my own personhood. Then, I filled my thick light pink iPod mini with other queer artists, followed these musicians closely on social media, and used these artists as living proof that life existed outside of the closet and as a reminder that queer artists and stories were more common than I thought. Now that I am out, I continue to stream and support artists who are part of the LGBTQIA+ community. Although I encourage you to stream these multitalented artists at your pride themed pre-games, festivals, and dinner parties, you should really support and follow LGBTQIA+ artists all year round. 'New drama Euphoria premieres this month, and it's set to be pretty gritty. Fronting the new series is Zendaya who, at just 21 years old, has already starred in blockbusters such as Spider Man and The Greatest Showman. The series is a coming-of-age tale of sorts, revolving around a group of teenagers as they try navigate \'a world of drugs, sex, trauma and social media,\' as the show's synopsis puts it. With Drake on the bill as one of the executive producers of the show, it will surely be amazing. So here's how to watch Euphoria in the UK . Living in the UK can have it's downfalls when it comes to US shows. Either the show comes out really late, or we don't get to see the show at all. This means that we often miss out on hit US shows, take Shrill as an example , a show that made waves across the pond and even had British actors in it, but still hasn't yet aired yet. Sob. Euphoria will begin on Sunday June 16 for U.S viewers and will air at 10 p.m. on HBO on a weekly basis. There is no word on whether Euphoria will air for UK audiences but the Express reports that it is likely that it will air on Sky Atlantic , following in the footsteps of shows like Big Little Lies. There has been no official confirmation as to whether or not the Express ' prediction is true, but all we can do is hope and pray. However, in an interview with one of Euphoria 's stars, Storm Reid, Refinery29 reported that \'it [ Euphoria ] will hit UK screens later this year .\' There is no word on exactly when that might be but at least we know it'll be coming across the pond eventually. Phew. Bustle has reached out to a rep at HBO to find out what the deal is with Euphoria airing in the UK, and whether we can expect it anytime soon. I'll get back to you if I hear anything. Having Drake on board as an executive producer is a pretty smart move seeing as he knows a thing or two about teen dramas. Drake starred on the Canadian teen soap Degrassi: The Next Generation where he played basketball star Jimmy Brooks. Euphoria 's director and creator Sam Levinson told the Hollywood Reporter \'there are going to be parents who are going to be totally fucking freaked out,\' and he was exactly right with Parents Television Council president Tim Winter stating that \'appears to be overtly, intentionally marketing extremely graphic adult content sex, violence, profanity and drug use to teens and preteens.\' The show is set to be pretty graphic and Refinery29 have said that you see 30 penises in just one episode . Blimey. It seems that the intention behind this was to shock, think of it as the U.S' answer to Skins just with a lot more nudity. Along with Zendaya, the cast will include Maude Apatow ( Girls ), Angus Cloud, Eric Dane, Alexa Demie, Jacob Elordi, Barbie Ferreira, Nika King, Storm Reid, Hunter Schafer, Algee Smith and Sydney Sweeney ( Sharp Objects ).'
